
The HK Prize is the leading Hong Kong prize awarding innovative ideas that contribute to the shaping of Hong Kong’s role as an international development hub. Winners will be awarded HK$5,000 and a chance to showcase their idea in front of Hong Kong’s development sector stakeholders. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their entries before 31 August 2024.
The winners of the Hong Kong Film Awards were announced on Sunday night. Detective Vs Sleuths took home four of the awards for which it was nominated including best director and actor for established star James Bond veteran Sean Lau. In addition, the Hong Kong film received the best original screenplay and cinematography. The movie follows the escapades of a police officer and his team on the hunt for a dangerous drug dealer who has evaded capture for years.
A total of HK$30.7 million will be distributed among the winners of the Hong Kong Film Awards 2024. The award ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong. The winners were selected from a shortlist of 30 films. The top three films were honoured in the following categories:

The HK$3.5 million payout was more than double the purse of the previous tournament in Jeddah.
Long queues were seen outside Jockey Club betting centers on Sunday as the public lined up to buy Mark Six tickets for the Chinese New Year snowball draw. The jackpot is expected to reach a record HK$188 million for a single winning unit. The mark six lottery is operated by HKJC Lotteries Limited, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Global scholars for Hong Kong have nominated five Hongkongers to the Nobel Peace Prize for their fervent dedication to protecting freedom in Hong Kong and campaigning for democracy. The nominations include Jimmy Lai, Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan, Gwyneth Ho, and Joshua Wong. The CFHK Foundation organised a special screening of the documentary She’s in Jail, which documents Chow’s steadfast resistance and perseverance in the face of imprisonment under an authoritarian regime.
The winners of the Yidan Prize were celebrated at a ceremony in Hong Kong on Sunday. Founder Chen Yidan congratulated the new and returning laureates. The award is designed to help create a better world through education.
Demographer Wolfgang Lutz and War Child Alliance members were awarded the prize for their contributions to global education. The HK$30 million prize is divided into two categories: research and education development. In his online speech, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said that the efforts of the new and returning laureates have made a real difference to the lives of children worldwide. He added that the HKSAR government remains committed to enhancing education for the benefit of all people around the world.
