The Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme (HKSES) has been offering outstanding local students an opportunity to pursue studies at world-renowned universities outside the territory since it was launched in 2014. Since then, around 8,100 HKSES awards have been given out. The winners are chosen not only based on academic achievements but also on extracurricular activities, personal attributes and leadership potential.
They might not be well-known, but these individuals are the true embodiment of the true spirit of Hong Kong. They are good Samaritans, selfless caregivers and they make a difference to support the greater community with their dedication and efforts. These heroes are the recipients of this year’s Spirit of Hong Kong Awards.
Winners of the Hongkong Prize were honoured at an awards ceremony held on 20 March. The winners were selected by a panel of judges on the basis of their research work and their contribution to society. They were rewarded with cash prizes and access to Hong Kong’s research facilities.
A total of eleven awards were awarded at this year’s Hongkong Prize, including two champions and three first runners-up. Business reporter Liu Yifan won the top prize in the Best Business News Writing (English) category for his story titled Virtually Painful, which exposed the risks of cryptocurrency investments. The award was presented by the China Daily Hong Kong Edition on Friday.
The Hongkong Arts Development Awards are an annual flagship event in the local arts scene that recognises distinguished artists, groups and organisations for their contributions to art in Hong Kong. The awards are organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
Those who are interested in the arts can participate by proposing nominees for the awards. The nominators must have a strong interest in the local arts and be able to promote and support the nominations. The final decision will be made by a panel of judges, which will be announced at a later date.
In line with scientific and standardized management, the operation of BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE will be carried out professionally and objectively. In addition, an independent review procedure has been formulated to ensure that the reviewing process is fair and impartial. In order to promote and reward scientific research conducted in Hong Kong, BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY innovaiton PRIZE has been established. Research work that is eligible for the award must have been mainly completed in Hong Kong, or in universities, industry-education-research bases and institutes set up by Hong Kong higher education institutions located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Moreover, the research should be of high-quality with a clear application of relevance to clinical practice and societal needs. The research should have been published in a peer-reviewed journal. The judging procedure is strict, and no organization or individual can exert undue influence in the selection process.
